Interior Resources

A GoodWeave marketing partner since 2007, Interior Resources has not only carried GoodWeave certified lines in its Dallas showroom, but also made a financial contribution to support GoodWeave’s mission. When the company decided to produce its own line of custom Tibetan rugs, Interior Resources became an importer of GoodWeave certified rugs in its own right.
An in-house design department staffed by two full-time rendering artists helps designers find or create the perfect rug for a project. “When we are not working on our designer projects, we are continually developing new designs for our own showroom stock,” says Paige Sowden, manager of Interior Resources’ custom department and daughter of founders Jack and Merikay Green. “Designers appreciate the ever-changing styles displayed in the showroom and the large selection of custom examples.”
Recognizing the important role designers can play in influencing consumer choices, Interior Resources staff focuses on educating them about child labor. “A designer’s hunt for the ‘perfect’ rug should include the history of how the rug was manufactured,” Paige says. “No one wants to believe that a child was endangered to produce their rug, and the best way to insure you’re purchasing a socially responsible product is to look for the GoodWeave label. We want our collections from Nepal to meet these standards and better the lives of the weavers themselves.”
