In April 2025, Goodweave partnered with Jan Sahas Foundation’s Migrant Resilience Collaborative (MRC) to launch a six-month pilot project. The project aims to unlock funds through existing, government-sponsored social security systems for worker communities in India, including Jaipur, Agra, and Chitrakoot/Banda, and promote decent work standard in the carpet industry.

For more than 20 years, Jan Sahas has led a community- and survivor-centered organization that supports vulnerable and migrant communities to ensure their social protection, through raising awareness, access to social security schemes, to elevating the overall standard of living on communities by ensuring ‘last-mile’ service delivery of government welfare and financial services.

MRC provides support across legal and social services, land and property rights, skill development, livelihood promotion, mental health assistance, and early childhood care and education. Their Social Security Facilitation bridges delivery gaps between households and eligible social security benefits in India. The benefits range from cash transfers and livelihood programs to insurance and education opportunities for workers and their families. This ensures that migrants and workers are protected against health and economic shocks.

In June 2025, GoodWeave identified workers and their communities, including households, that have a high concentration of workers. They provided MRC with access to these communities to help workers apply for eligible social security programs and facilitate the delivery of entitlements.

GoodWeave also supported Jan Sahas in reaching hard-to-access worker communities by organizing meetings. In Agra and Jaipur, the MRC team met with approximately 1,700 workers in the GoodWeave supply chain, helped them apply for eligible schemes, and held orientation sessions. They also conducted focused sessions on government programs that connect artisan workers to social protection, healthcare, and welfare benefits, including E-Shram, Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Labour Parishad Schemes, among others.

By July 2025, GoodWeave and Jan Sahas supported 556 worker households in registering on the MRC tech platform and assisted 508 workers with social security applications. These efforts resulted in 703 benefits delivered to the workforce in Agra and Jaipur carpet factories.

Building on the positive outcomes so far, the MRC team is deepening its efforts to expand impact. We are actively conducting registration drives for government schemes such as E-Shram, BOCW, and Bharat Yojana, while also developing information, education, and communication materials in local languages to reach more workers effectively. Awareness camps are also being organized to ensure workers are fully informed of their rights and entitlements. These initiatives strengthen our collaboration and reinforce our commitment to advancing dignity and protection for every worker.

The partnership between GoodWeave and Jan Sahas is built on a shared commitment to ensure workers have proper access to their rights and benefits. As the project moves forward and beyond its conclusion in October 2025, we look forward to this collaboration continuing to strengthen pathways of protection and empowerment for workers.
