Source rugs and home textiles with confidence by partnering with GoodWeave® — Decorex 2023, 8-11 October, Olympia London / Stand P30

August 10, 2023

LONDON, 10 August 2023 – GoodWeave International, the leading global nonprofit organisation working to stop child, forced and bonded labour in global supply chains, serves as an official sustainability partner for Decorex International 2023.

GoodWeave invites designers, buyers and others working in the design industries to visit stand P30 for meaningful conversations about workers’ rights, responsible sourcing and how the GoodWeave program can help achieve their corporate responsibility goals. Visitors will also learn about GoodWeave’s established worldwide network of more than 190 licensed importer brands and retailers, as well as its more than 230 licensed manufacturers in India and Nepal.

Supporting Decorex’s sustainability focus, GoodWeave will share the positive social impact its licensing and certification programme has on worker communities involved in making rugs and interior home textiles in India and Nepal.

With forecasts that climate change will cause increased humanitarian crisis across the globe, the need to protect vulnerable children and workers has never been greater. Additionally, new mandatory human rights due diligence legislation is being developed in Europe and other countries that will require companies over a certain size to be accountable for adverse human rights impact in supply chains.

From deep supply chain mapping including subcontracted and home-based manufacturing worksites, unannounced inspections, remediation and prevention, GoodWeave operates at the grassroots level forging essential relationships with worker communities, governments and manufacturing companies. This helps to shine the light on hidden supply chains whilst protecting workers’ rights. Products carrying a GoodWeave certification label provide much-needed assurance that they are manufactured free of child, forced and bonded labour, a truly valuable asset as consumers and regulators look more carefully at ethically produced commodities.

“GoodWeave now partners with over 30 companies in the United Kingdom. Decorex will be invaluable for meeting new players and those companies concerned about potential child and forced labour in their supply chains. We look forward to speaking with businesses in the design sector and discussing the many advantages of becoming a GoodWeave licensee themselves or how to source from our growing list of existing partners meeting our rigorous Standard.” Sonny Puryear, Director of Business Engagement and Marketing, GoodWeave International
