Update on GoodWeave’s GoodStone™ Initiative and Cobalt Fund
The GoodStone™ initiative and Cobalt Fund was created in Mach 2023 to support the initial planning and exploratory phase focused on understanding how GoodWeave’s approach might be applied to addressing child and forced labor in artisanal cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With this early phase now complete, and in line with GoodWeave’s new five year strategic planning process, we reflected on what we learned and where GoodWeave can deliver the greatest sustained impact for children and workers.
We have decided to bring the GoodStone™ initiative to a close and direct our focus toward strengthening and expanding our core work in South Asia, where we have established programs, partners and local networks. This means investing more deeply in prevention programs that keep children in school, community-based support for families, and protections for workers in carpets, home textiles, and apparel sectors.
We remain committed to advancing solutions that protect children and workers globally and will share more details as part of broader updates on GoodWeave’s strategic direction.
